How much it'll cost to do MDS
An adventure like this would probably cost a bomb. And it does. I've list out every single cent spent on the entire project. It will be useful for people who are looking to doing this event in the future.
If you do not have the usual running essentials like garmin watch or sunglasses it will probably set you back another $400-$600
*Estimate only. Some items were charged in Euro or pound.
Total: $9167
This is no small amount. The best way to save cost is to have an excel spreadsheet of what you really need. Sometime when shopping online, one can get carried away and order things which we don't really need. You can always loan certain equipment from people who have already done the event. Most people wouldn't need their Backpack, gaiters, headlamps if they are not doing any ultras anytime soon.
However, the true cost is the time you'll be spending for training. I am averaging about 90-110km mileage a week. This convert to about 15-18hours spent per week running.
